Bio:  Olga Dubisskiy holds a Degree in visual arts and architecture from the National Academy of Arts, Kiev, Ukraine. Following the 6-year full time studies she worked in restoration of the Ukraine architectural heritage.

After visiting Venice, Italy in the 90s and inspired by carnival mask tradition Olga became interested in mask making and developed her own style and concept for a mask as an active interior component. Over 100 of Olga’s interior masks have been acquired for private collections in Europe and Americas.

In British Columbia (Canada) her visual art works and masks were selected for a number of juried exhibitions and appreciated by public. Strong academic background enables Olga to work in oil, acrylic and mixed media. She has also concentrated on sculpture. Her sculpture exhibition in Coquitlam’s Place des Arts (Canada) in 2004 earned coverage by national CBC-TV art news.

Olga has lived in Texas since 2008.

Brown-Pattern-Abstract

Bio: After being a potter since 1975 in South Africa, where my fascination for clay began, I have finally switched from clay to working with glass. After immigrating to the United States in 1981, I continued my pottery as a hobby.

In March 2005 my hobby became my full-time profession. After experimenting with clay using various techniques for 27 years, I finally developed a unique style which I have been told reflected my South African. The use of texture and color became my signature.

I am a founding member of 18 Hands Gallery in Houston, Texas. My work has been shown at Archway Gallery in Houston and Copper Shade Tree in Roundtop, Texas. I am the current world record holder on the potter’s wheel by one person, as recorded by the Book of Alternative Records. This record was set at 18 Hands Gallery in Houston, Tx on the 26th January 2008, with a time of 18 hours and 3 minutes, breaking the previous record by one hour and three minutes.

Now it remains to be seen where my glass art will take me. As I am now 76 years young I do not have 27 years to experiment and only time will tell. The most important thing of all is that I am enjoying the glass work immensely.

All my pieces are one of a kind.

My name is Ashley Banfield. This is my junior year at Lamar High School.  Art is my number one passion. I have been drawing since elementary school. There were you-tubers I watched to draw cartoon animals in Junior High. We work with many different mediums in class. This includes acrylics, colored pencils, pastels, charcoal, pen and ink, and water colors. My favorite is water colors.  This summer a group of us along with my art teacher are going to Europe.  We will travel to Paris, Rome, and Italy. I cannot wait to see all of the things we have been studying in person. I am so excited.  My mother has always encouraged me to follow my dreams and not let others discourage me. She is giving me the chance to do just that this summer.

A veteran teacher of agriculture and mechanics courses, Reed looks for ways to express his Texas pride and Western heritage through his artwork.  Though not formally trained as an artist, Reed draws upon his experience in the mechanics shop as he develops his pieces.

Artist Statement or Philosophy:

“My artwork is nothing special.  It’s simply everyday items formed together in a unique way that I hope will resonate with art patrons.  Each piece is a one of kind.”

Artist Statement:

Orlando’s art varies from multi-medium pieces finding his niche in resining of old guitars. Orlando’s pallet offers the eyes a mixture of the bizarre and even the beautiful.  Orlando’s brush technique is self-taught, largely staccato application. His style is notable for his ability to lift darkness out of even the brightest of colors.  (Matt Minor, Fort Bend Herald)

Artist Bio:

Ashley Lynn was raised in Amish country. In the rolling hills of rural Southwestern Iowa. The oldest of six Matney children. She grew up raising farm animals, rodeoing, and showing cattle. All the women on her Mother’s side of the family are artists. Ashley taught herself to paint at twelve years old with some hand-me-down brushes and old paint she found in her Grandma’s closet. The hobby became an obsession as the years went on. After graduating from homeschool at the age of seventeen, she went to live with her mother’s family in Spain for 3 years. Coming back to America at the age of 20 she enrolled in school and is currently studying to become a Geologist.
STATEMENT: I love to do all kinds of art. But my preference at the moment would have to be acrylics, and watercolor. I also enjoy making rosaries out of semi-precious stones. I don’t really have a preferred style and like to dabble in everything from realism to abstract. The one thing that stays consistent about my artwork is colors. Very rarely will you catch me doing a black and white sketch. I have to put some pop of color in it. I love to paint things that had some sort of impact on my life. Every painting has a deep meaning to me. A lot of my inspiration comes from Spain. As well as the beautiful Amish country I grew up in.
